TYSA Member Received Research Award
Congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phiangphak Sukkharak on the Research Award: Good Level (Agriculture and Biology) given by the National Research Council of Thailand.
The award was granted for her research entitled “Revision of the liverwort genus Frullania in Thailand”
Frullania is a large and taxonomically complex genus of liverwort. There are over 2000 described names. Recently there are the changes in the infrageneric classification of the genus and the worldwide checklist of the genus. These coupled with the inadequately known of bryophyte flora of Thailand necessitate a reinvestigation of and an update on the genus Frullania in Thailand. A revision of Thai Frullania based on detailed morphological study of type specimens as well as additional fresh and herbarium materials leads to the recognition of 39 species. Of these, three species including F. hypoleuca, F. ramuligera, and F. sinuata are newly recorded for Thailand. Three lectotypes are designated. A key to the species of Thai Frullania is provided. Each species is described and illustrated, with details on ecology and distribution.
